Here is the second (and longer) edition of a video project completed for the North Shore EVP. The first version (listed below) is 3 minutes and this particular edit needed to be longer and go into greater detail about the organization. It's a good example of completing two very different, yet similar videos, that deliver compelling information for a company doing essential work in the community.
The ending of this particular episode is special to me because it's the first time we hired an outside production company to shoot a scene for us, and we believe it paid off in a very special way. All episodes of "Haole Do It" are currently streaming commercial free at HaoleDoIt.com. Enjoy, and spread the aloha!
This is a project where I was tasked with editing preexisting footage to help this organization complete a grant application that required digital media. I believe this is a solid example of being able to turn another production's footage into usable content.
I was recently contracted by the "Protect Pololū" organization to document their 4th annual E Lei O Pololū event in which they made lei to string across the valley to honor their ancestors while maintaining the trails and 'āina. It was one of the most rewarding projects I've ever worked on and I believe the finished video embodies that feeling. Mahalo for having me, Pololū Stewards, and keep fighting the good fight!
This was a truly unique project where I was given the chance to teach a 2 day interim at Parker School in Waimea. Over the course of our particular interim activity, students learned the basics of video production and were essential in completing a recap video of the other activities being held in and around campus. Students conducted interviews, shot B roll, took photos and learned what it takes to complete a video project such as this. It was a wonderfully collaborative opportunity for both me and the students and I believe that sentiment is conveyed in the recap video.
In March of 2024, I had the pleasure of working with this O'ahu based organization and helping them relay their message and overall mission to the community. Filmed in 1 day and edited over the course of a week, we produced a quick yet informative video that will help get their message to relevant and potential partners here in Hawai'i.
Filmed & edited by Lucky Tree Productions:
Local storyteller Boots Lupenui goes on a search for old and unrecorded songs of Kohala and their composers. Funded in part by the Library of Congress, he uncovers the stories behind their songs and how each composer has been shaped by the storied land that nurtured them. Boots captures these “heirloom songs” from the composers themselves and their families, learning about the musical journey each composer has taken and how Kohala itself has shaped their songs.
One aspect of production I enjoy working in is attending specific events, documenting the activities and then creating a quick recap video that can be used for future marketing, social media or simply for the sake of posterity. This specific example is from a songwriting workshop on Hawai'i Island.
This is the first episode of a five part mini-series focusing on the canoe plants of Hawai'i. Although the project is a Kahilu.TV original production, I played a significant role in producing, directing, filming, writing and editing each episode.
The remaining four episodes are in post production and so far the reception to the overall project has been extremely positive.
As we all know, Reels, photos, stories, etc. are being used across several social media platforms. This is an example where I attended an event and cut it into high quality, vertical, shareable and consumable content. I also provided a batch of professional photographs to the client. And I'd be happy to do the same for you!
This is an example of attending a newsworthy event in order to shoot and edit in a way that the station will find it helpful to get the content to air. Here is an example of a VNR I produced, helped shoot and edited to promote the Hawai'i Songwriting Festival. It includes plenty of quality B roll, an interview with the Mayor and testimonials from a couple of attendees.
For plenty more examples of my work, including live-streamed concerts, commercials & trailers, original documentaries & mini-series, social media content, artist interviews (and more) that I produce, film, write & edit for Kahilu Theatre's premium streaming service, please visit Kahilu.TV.
After growing up in southwestern Pennsylvania for 23 years, I moved to Los Angeles and spent the next 12 years working in Television Production. When the pandemic hit in March of 2020 I continued west to ride it out with my significant other on Hawai'i Island where we now reside permanently and I am fortunate enough to continue working in video production.
I'm the creator and Executive Producer of my own series entitled "Haole Do It" that airs locally on K5 and is currently streaming on Hawaiian Airlines. Season one & two are available for free and Season three is in production.
I work full time as a video producer at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea for their new streaming service, Kahilu.TV
I also create commercials, social media content, and miscellaneous videos for local businesses and members of the community.
My main goal has always been to create content that is funny and/or uplifting and I've been very successful thus far. Truth be told I couldn't be happier.
Most importantly, I can work well with you and your team. I'm easy to get along with, a creative problem solver and I try to keep stress levels at a minimum. I can shoot, edit, direct, produce, work in graphic design and deliver a product that meets your standards. And we'll have fun doing it!
Thanks for stopping by! Let me know what kind of work you need done and we'll figure out a way to collaborate. Thanks again!
Cheers,
Adam
